Most plant starts come in a 3" square pot. Cilantro, dill, and pansies are grown in a 4-pack.

Our plant starts are Certified Naturally Grown. We use organic and non-GMO seeds, organic approved potting mix, and naturally-derived fertilizers.

Pick-up your pre-ordered plant starts one of these three events:

Sunday, May 7th at Newbo City Market in Cedar Rapids 10am - 4pm

Thursday, May 11th at Morning Glory Farm in Mt Vernon 4pm-6pm

Saturday, May 13th at the Iowa City Farmers Market 7:30am-12pm

Please indicate in the Notes section before checkout which location you will be picking up your plant starts.

Plant Profiles

Genovese Basil - the classic basil, a must-have herb in the garden. downy-mildew & fusarium resistant. Annual.

Lemon Basil - bright lemon flavor with a sweet basil aroma. Annual.

Thai Basil - savory and peppery basil, great for thai cuisine. Annual.

Borage - blue star-shaped flowers have a mild cucumber taste. a vigorous self-seeder that can grow to be fairly large. leaves should not be eaten. Annual.

Cilantro - a slow-to-bolt variety. Annual. 4-Pack.

Dill - harvest leaves for eggs, fish, & potato dishes and then let it go to flower to add to your pickles. Annual. 4-Pack.

Lemongrass - harvest the flavorful stalks in late summer, early fall for soups & stir-fries. also makes a beautiful landscape plant with leaves 2-3 feet tall. Annual.

Gem Marigold - bright orange edible flowers make any dish pop. use the leaves as a tarragon substitute. Annual.

Mojito Mint - the best flavor for cocktails, mocktails, and desserts! slightly sweeter than spearmint. Perennial.

Peppermint - a mint with the most spicy profile, powerfully aromatic. true peppermint variety, taken from cuttings. careful where you plant as peppermint will spread. Perennial.

Spearmint - classic mint for desserts, fruit salads, and drying for tea. Perennial.

Nasturtium - a mix of brightly colored flowers to add to salads & garnish plates. whole plant is edible - the flowers have a peppery flavor, the leaves are more mild. varieties are Alaska Mix and Jewel Mix - flowers might be red, orange, yellow, or cream. Annual.

Greek Oregano - a must-have in the culinary garden as there's no replacement for fresh oregano! true Greek varietal. Perennial.

Pansy, Johnny Jump-Up - small, multi-colored blue and yellow flowers are a cute addition to the landscape and make great garnishes. Annual. 4-pack.

Pansy, Brush Strokes  - mix of apricot, gold, peach, lavender, plum, purple, and cream. edible flowers have a mild wintergreen flavor. garnish plates, salads, desserts, and cocktails. Annual. 4-pack.

Parsley, Flat - a cut-and-come again herb to supply you with fresh parsley all summer. Biennial.

Rosemary - bold flavor for meat marinades, roasted vegetables, and desserts. Annual in our climate - can be potted up to overwinter indoors.

Sage - classic garden sage. savory velvet leaves pair well with pork, fish, & potatoes. Perennial.

Summer Savory - a lesser known herb but incredibly flavorful! tastes like a cross between thyme and oregano. perfect for lamb & beef dishes. Perennial.

Shiso, Britton - a stunning variety of shiso. bi-colored leaves are green on top and purple underneath. makes a great bouquet foliage as well as salad or stir-fry green. Annual.

Shiso, Purple - also known as Japanese basil. fragrant floral leaves to eat with rice, stir-fry, salads, sushi. gorgeous purple color! Annual. 

Thyme - classic culinary herb. hardy variety with compact leaves. Perennial
