We are seeking motivated individuals to join our farm team for the 2025 season.
Rhubarb Botanicals LLC is a multi-site diversified farm in Linn County, Iowa. We cultivate specialty horticulture crops including cut flowers, medicinal herbs, culinary herbs, and nursery plant starts using organic practices on approximately 3 acres, and raise pastured livestock. Herb production and livestock are located at our home farm, 6 miles north of Mt Vernon. In 2025, our cut flowers will be grown at a farm one mile south of Mt Vernon (formerly Morning Glory Farm). Flowers are grown for our 16-week Flower CSA, farmers markets, and local florists. In 2025 we will host a Farmers Market at our Flower Farm on Saturdays, May - October. We also attend the Iowa City Farmers Market (Saturdays May - October) and the Cedar Rapids Farmers Market (e/o Saturday June - September).
The ideal candidates for employment are those who are passionate about sustainable agriculture and interested in growing, literally and figuratively, with our company. Employees must be able to work collaboratively, practice open communication, and take direction & feedback with ease. Employees should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. A strong work ethic and positive attitude is a must. Previous farm experience is preferred.

Location, Hours, & Pay
Workers must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation to and from our farm(s). Housing is not available.
Interested applicants should be available to work consistently during weekdays and select Saturdays from April - October. Schedule will be set during interviews.
Starting pay is $15-$20/hour or dependent on experience. 30-minute paid lunch is included in a full working day (typical hours are 7:30am-3:30pm).
Herb Farm Lead
The Herb Farm Lead will work closely with Emma to oversee and accomplish our medicinal and culinary herb production. We grow 30 varieties of medicinal herbs and 40 varieties of culinary herbs on approximately 1.5 acres. Herbs are grown for use in our value-added products, fresh sales at markets and to local restaurants, and dried for bulk sales. This full-time position runs from April - November with the possibility of extending part-time work into the winter months.
Herb Farm Manager tasks include (but are not limited to): seedling production and greenhouse management; field and bed preparation; high tunnel management; irrigation set-up and maintenance; transplanting and direct seeding of crops; weeding and cultivation; organic pest and disease management; forecasting herb availability and inventory management; harvesting, bunching, washing, packing, and labeling of fresh culinary herbs to order for sale to restaurants, food hubs, and farmers markets; managing the drying and and processing of dried herbs; post-harvest processing (garbling) of dried herbs; cleaning tools and equipment.

Farm Crew Members
We are looking for two Farm Crew members to join our team for the 2025 season. This full-time seasonal position (32-40 hours per week) will begin in late March/April and end in mid-November.
Farm Crew members will primarily work with flower crops at the Flower Farm but will split time between both farm locations. Job tasks include (but are not limited to) seeding & greenhouse nursery production; field and bed preparation; high tunnel maintenance; weeding and crop maintenance; irrigation set-up and management; direct seeding & transplanting; trellising; mulching; harvesting; bunching flowers; arranging flower bouquets for CSA and markets; washing buckets and tools; field clean-up & winterizing; dahlia digging; keeping detailed records; inventory management; and maintaining clean and organized work spaces. In addition to field production, Farm Crew members will assist in set-up, vending, and customer service during our Farmer’s Markets, Plant Sales, You-Pick Flower events, and Farm Store open hours. Farm Crew members must be able to work on select Saturdays throughout the season.
